Why We Exist

Almost every evangelical, Bible-believing church has adopted a mission statement. And almost all of these mission statements are simply a rephrasing of the Great Commission that was given to the Church by Jesus as recorded in the Gospels. Instead of adding yet another reiteration, we have chosen to simply let Jesus speak for Himself about the mission of His Church and the local expression of it that we call “Fellowship Nashville.”

MATTHEW 28:18-20

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Who We Are

We are a gospel-centered church in the city, for the city, and seeking a city above.

GOSPEL-CENTERED | OUR PRIORITY

GRACE MATTERS
We believe that we are saved from our sin, not through our own efforts, but through the finished work of Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-7)

TRUTH MATTERS
We enjoy and submit to God’s Word, even when it’s hard. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13)

TRANSFORMATION MATTERS
We understand that the gospel is what continues to change us from the inside out. (Colossians 2:6-7, Titus 2:11-12)

IN THE CITY | OUR PLACE

PRESENCE MATTERS
We desire to join Jesus on mission right where we are, recognizing that the gospel that has come to us, is meant to flow through us. (Matthew 5:14, Ephesians 2:10)

RELATIONSHIP MATTERS
We want to make the people in our community more important than our programs. (Romans 12:9-10, 1 Thessalonians 2:8)

DIVERSITY MATTERS
We seek to be multigenerational and multicultural … emphasizing unity, not uniformity. (Revelation 5:9-10, Galatians 3:28)

FOR THE CITY | OUR POSTURE

GENEROSITY MATTERS
We gladly serve and sacrifice to help our neighborhoods and our city flourish. (Jeremiah 29:7, 1 Timothy 6:17-19).

JUSTICE MATTERS
We seek to give voice to those who suffer from injustice, leveraging our influence and resources to help those who lack the power or platform. (Micah 6:8, James 1:27)

OWNERSHIP MATTERS
We desire to be contributors not consumers, who generously choose Jesus’ mission over our comfort. (Mark 10:45, Philippians 2:3-7)

SEEKING A CITY ABOVE | OUR PURPOSE

ETERNITY MATTERS
We live for what will last forever, giving people a clear picture of the holy City that is to come. (Revelation 21:1-2; 22-27, Philippians 3:20-21, 2 Peter 3:13)

PRAYER MATTERS
We dependently ask the Holy Spirit to empower us, praying earnestly for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. (John 15:5, Matthew 6:9-13)

WORSHIP MATTERS
We joyously love Jesus, and everything we do is ultimately about Him. (Revelation 7:9-12, Romans 12:1, Psalm 100)
